인간의 본성은 악하다. 인간은 자신보다 뛰어나 사람을 보면 저절로 시기,질투하는 마음이 생긴다. 인간이 자신보다 뛰어나 사람을 보면 저절로 시기,질투하는 마음이 생기는 이유는 자신보다 뛰어난 사람은 언젠가 자신을 해칠 가능성이 크다고 보기 때문이다. 즉 인간의 기본 품성은 악하고 타인을 바라보는 시선도 타인은 기본적으로 자신을 해칠 존재로 바라보는 것이다.
